In the studio
Creative expression
The garden is an intrinsic part of my creative expression and process. I am at my most content when working in my garden studio, and, when the weather allows, outside within the space itself.
Having begun shaping the garden in 2005, I have developed it over many years into a place where I can work freely and intuitively, experimenting with scale, foliage, and form. It remains in a constant state of change, evolving with both time and season.
It continues to offer a sustained source of inspiration. I don’t anticipate ever considering it complete.
The garden is not only a site of making but also a source of materials. I draw directly from it in my woven works, incorporating gathered plant matter, bark, and foliage. These elements are also used in my dye processes, where I extract natural pigments to colour the fibres I work with, further embedding the garden within each piece.
